Environment

Nowadays, environmental issues are at the forefront more than ever. As an industrial company, we have a great responsibility to run our business based on the principle of minimal environmental impact.

Enclosed processes are used for producing both the film and paint, and for coating the sheet steel. From an environmental perspective, these methods are superior to those employed for in-situ painting.

After the adhesive or paint and underside varnish have been applied to the strip, more than 99% of the solvent is removed from the exhaust gases. These solvents are burned. The combustion energy is recovered and recycled for the process, where it is used for drying the coatings. As a step in our environmental development work, we can also offer a halogen-free product as an option to the regular PVC film.

Both film-laminated sheet steel and pre-painted steel can be recycled and it is an important raw material in the production of new steel. According to our environmental policy, we continually improve the efficiency of our processes and develop the environmental properties of our products from the life-cycle perspective.

By outsourcing sheet production to Metalcolour, the problem surrounding the ever-increasing environmental requirements for paint and lacquering facilities is avoided.

Coil-coating is an environmentally friendly lacquering process because of the use of cylinders in the application phase, which minimizes the consumption of lacquer and glue. The use of coil-coating, furthermore, does not lead to the release of lacquer particles, which can otherwise lead to the pollution of the working area.Metalcolour is continually adopting new methods and products in order to safeguard the environment:

- We have developed a method of lamination with PVC-free sheets for use in the car sector,

- we use printing inks for our motif sheets, which contain no solvent solutions, and

- in particular with the white goods sector, we have developed a processing system that ensures that the use of hexavalent chromium is avoided (as per legislation - 01-07-2006),

- all process water is processed in our own
